St. Columba Cathedral Parish 2025 (Secondary Church)

Founded in 1913 by Croatian immigrants in Youngstown’s Arlington District, located at 421 Covington Street.

Croatian society leaders purchased two lots with small houses in 1911 to establish the parish.
A Romanesque brick church was constructed in 1913 on the same site.
The original wooden altar survives and is incorporated into the side altar transom.
Reverend John A. Stipanovic served as pastor for 53 years, known for personally collecting donations and insisting on Sunday attendance.
A parish school opened in 1929, serving the community for 58 years until closing in 1973.
Merged in 2011 with St. Stephen of Hungary and Our Lady of Hungary to form Holy Apostles Parish.
In 2025, merged with St. Columba Cathedral and St. Edward Parish; The Church building is now a secondary worship site.
Friday Night Bingo, begun in 1955, continues today.
